Fieldspec
The FieldSpec is a highly portable spectroradiometer useful in many applications requiring either the absolute or relative measurement of light energy.
Light is collected trough a short solid core of specially formulated optical fiber. The spectrum, in the 325-1075 nm wavelength domain, is measured with a 512 channel silicon photodiode array overlaid with an order separation filter. Each channel, an individual detector itself, is geometrically positioned to receive light within a narrow (1.6 nm) nominal bandwidth. The spectrometer has a spectral resolution (FWHM of a single emission line) of approximately 3 nm at around 700 nm
At the moment it is used to measure atmospheric horizontal optical depth in the spectral range 400-700 nm, the atmospheric aerosol extinction coefficient and its equivalent scale height in the same spectral range.
